The local take
Temporary courts striped on basketball/tennis surface — active Westside community runs paddle stacks daily.
What it's like to play here
Eight pickleball setups at Westwood Recreation Center — striped over an existing tennis/basketball asphalt pad. Bring a portable net. The Westside pickleball community runs daily paddle stacks here; the asphalt is a step down from concrete on knee impact and softer on falls, but it grips well.
When to go (and when not to)
- Best: weekday morning 8am–noon for the friendliest beginner rotation.
- Avoid: weekend afternoons — every paddle in West LA shows up.
How to get there
Off the 405 at Santa Monica Boulevard east, then south on Sepulveda. The Recreation Center is on the east side of Sepulveda just south of Pico. Free lot, but it fills.
