Gabriel Tardio is a 19-year-old Bolivian-American who won both men's singles and men's doubles at the 2025 PPA Veolia North Carolina Open โ and is Ben Johns's chosen current men's doubles partner.
Career
Tardio was introduced to pickleball at age 14 by his grandfather, who built courts with him in Bolivia. He came to the U.S. for full-time training with a junior tennis background and signed a three-year contract extension with both the PPA Tour and MLP in 2025.
The North Carolina Open doubles final captured what he's about: down 8-1 to a higher-seeded pair, he and Ben Johns clinched the match 13-11.
Playing style
Right-handed. Aggressive baseline-to-net transition; the tennis background shows in his return-of-serve depth. The Ben Johns partnership accelerated his doubles ranking faster than singles, but the singles game is catching up โ currently ranked #17.
Off-court
Trains daily; described in coverage as having a regimen that "rivals seasoned pros." One of the highest-profile international players on the men's draw alongside Argentina's Federico Staksrud and France's Noe Khlif.
